What do robots have in common with dinosaurs?

Science & Technology Ministry Team @ The Creation Museum

You arrive for your very first visit at the acclaimed Creation Museum, ready to learn about dinosaurs and the Bible, but instead you are greeted in the main lobby by a pair of battling robots. What's going on here??

Having taught college computer science for the past 30 years, I saw a need to creatively engage precollege students to consider going into one of these disciplines. So about 12 years ago, I assembled a STEM Team at Bob Jones University. The team was designed to use Lego Mindstorm Robotics Kits and travel around to high schools showing young people that robotics is an excellent platform from which to gain insights into God's Creation. I want young people to understand that technology exists to help mankind postpone the effects of the Curse in order that they might have more time to respond to the Gospel, God's permanent cure for the Curse.

STEM is an acronym found in education circles that means Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It represents the academic rigors needed to compete in today's high tech, global economy. One of the best industry examples which pulls from all four of these disciplines is ROBOTICS.

One of the most exciting places the team goes is to The Creation Museum, a ministry of Answers in Genesis, located near the Cincinnati International Airport on I-275 in Northern KY. This past week I had the privilege of being with The BJU Science & Technology Ministry Team as they did the robotics workshops at the Museum.

The next step is a summer STEM camp where young people will be exposed to 144 hours of robotics, physics, math, biology, geology and astronomy, all within a solid biblical apologetics framework. Camp Infinity is a new, unprecedented STEM CAMP, where CAMP means Creation Apologetics Made Personal. This summer's program is designed for students going into 7th-9th grade. We have two identical weeks, July 6-12 and July 13-19. A limited number of scholarships are available to help parents offset some of the high cost of this investment in your child's faith in the Bible and future in STEM. To begin, simply fill out the online application. There is no cost or obligation to apply.

Here are a few blogs that will give you a quick overview of Ci:

Intense learning and excitement mark these workshops.

If you are looking for a worthwhile camp for your inquisitive child this summer that will help him/her see the connection between robots and dinosaurs, Ci is a great choice! Explore CampInfinity.com to learn how Camp Infinity will inspire young people to discover wonder and amazement in everything they see in the world around them and will teach them to face each day with an insatiable curiosity that drives them into a closer relationship with the Infinite One who created it all.
